ChessNet 3 FAQ's
Why am I having trouble with this program on Windows XP?
-
Running older programs on Windows XP.
In ChessNet 3, how can I connect to another player?
-
If you're in the same room, the best solution is to use a null modem cable and
choose Null Modem Connect from the Connect menu. Or if you're both already on a
local area network, choose Network Connect.
If you're within a local call of each other, choose Modem Connect, and try the
initialization strings for the Hayes 1200. In general, setting your modem speed to
1200 bps will usually eliminate compression and error-checking that block
ChessNet's simple communication.
If you're both on the Internet, choose Internet Connect, Direct Connect Using
TCP/IP. The trick here is to know your opponent's IP address. If your opponent
uses dial-up network access through an Internet Service Provider, he or she gets
assigned an IP address that can be different each session. Check with your
Internet Service Providers for tools to determine this dynamic IP address.
The program or my system just acts strange.
-
Run ScanDisk.
